Door 7: Peter the pine tree

AdventMysteryCal
Today it’s a little bit of flora again.
Say hello to Peter the pine tree, he’s quite a little fellow and won’t take long to make.

Today you will need dark green and dark brown yarn.

Don’t forget your 2mm hook, fibrefill, a tapestry needle and scissors, and, if you battle finding the end of the round, a stitch marker. If you don’t have a stitch marker you can use a paper clip or safety-pin instead.

All the CAL tutorials  are written in US terminology, if you need to convert to UK terminology please look at my Stitch Index.

Today’s abbreviations are:
ch – chain
dec – decrease
inc – increase
sc – single crochet
slst – slip stitch
st(s) – stitch(es)

It is advisable to read the directions before starting, just so you have an overview of what’s happening.

Begin by making a magic ring with dark green yarn.
Round 1
5 sc into the magic ring, slst round closed, pull ring closed (5 sts).
Round 2
1 sc in each st around (5 sts).
Round 3
1 sc in the next st, (ch 3, slst in each back bump starting at second bump from hook), inc, (ch 3, slst in each back bump starting at second bump from hook), [1 sc in next st,(ch 3, slst in each back bump starting at second bump from hook)] x 3 (6 sts).
Round 4
1 sc in each st around (6 sts).
Round 5
[1 sc in the next st, (ch 4, slst in each back bump starting at second bump from hook)] x 3, inc, [1 sc in next st,(ch 4, slst in each back bump starting at second bump from hook)] x 2 (7 sts).
Round 6
1 sc in each st around (7 sts).
Round 7
[1 sc in the next st, (ch 5, slst in each back bump starting at second bump from hook)] x 2, inc, [1 sc in next st,(ch 5, slst in each back bump starting at second bump from hook)] x 4 (8 sts).
Round 8
1 sc in each st round (8 sts).
Round 9
Inc, [1 sc in the next st, (ch 6, slst in each back bump starting at second bump from hook)] x 7 (9 sts).
Round 10
1 sc in next st, inc, 1 sc in next seven sts (10 sts).
Round 11
Change to dark brown.
Dec x 5 (5 sts).
Round 12
1 sc in each st around  (5 sts).

Cut the yarn with a length to weave in the end.
Close the bottom off so that it is flat, not using the amigurumi closing method,

and there you go, you’ve just finished your Peter the pine tree .
Please share him on Instagram with #adventmysterycal2015 so that I can see your creation.

I’ll see you again tomorrow for Door 8.
